On the way to uni snaps

Well I took my camera out again, seems like the thing i do now days, I just like to take shots while on the way to some place… and see what i can come up with. This time I was on the way to my lecture (which I found hard to concentrate cause the material isn’t so exciting). Anyway, I got home and edited them, tried to make the colours nicer (at least it was on my screen), and added some text to some. And for good measure I’m going to start this off with the two dogs that used to bark at me whenever I walked up the road.. they have given up barking at me now.

This next picture is actually from a bin, I was looking to get textures and thought this turned out quite nice…lol.. for a picture of a bin. I’ve called it rustic (probably not that original but hey)

and below is the bin I got these pictures from :D

This one was actually one of the first shots I took while on my way to uni, its just my shadow, but I thought it looked cool. I added a glow to my shadow and the bean snap text.

And this last photo I took while crossing the bridge to uni, there was a sunset going on so i took the opportunity and tried to capture it the best I could.

(update) I forgot to put this one up, but i just am updating the post today (19th Aug) I took this one just as I was leaving home, there is this tattered looking shed thing besides the road, I want to go back and try getting a better photo of it some time.

On the way to life group

yesterday I was heading off to life group when I saw this mini cooper, I like those cars (although i probably wouldn’t ever want to get one due to my height). I like the look of them, and this one was a nice red colour… I took a couple of shots of it, this one being one of my favourite, and it happens to be the first shot I took too. After that I headed to Southbank and on the way over I saw a building with a nice reflection from the glass and I couldn’t resist the shot. It took me 20min I think to make it across the bridge lol.. I was looking for shots the whole way across… I got two shots, they are hard to get because when its night you need a slow shutter speed, but when you rest the camera on the side of the bridge to prevent camera shake, you soon realise that this bridge also moves making it almost as bad as holding it yourself….lol…

This picture of the city I like but its not as clear as what i’d like… moving bridge and lack of tripod makes it a hard shot to do.

The blue blob

Yesterday I was home all day and decided to get creative, I was out downstairs talking with Phillip and his brother. Phillip was twiddling with blue tack and I decided to take a photo of it.

From this an idea came to me, I decided to mould the blue tack into a human shaped figure with no head, the head being on the ground. The idea was that the blue tack man would be trying to get his head back… I wasn’t sure how I was going to create this story because I’m not that great of a story teller, but here are some pictures I’ve taken and done some wacky stuff to. Check it out… ( I plan to update this blog post as I edit more photos)

Experimental day 12 August 2009

Today I just got my camera back after losing it last week on Monday, so in excitement I ran into the botanicals and went crazy and tried to capture the beauty of some of the things in the gardens.

I Found this beautiful tree in the gardens and set out taking photos of it. I decided that portraying the flowers against the beautiful blue sky would be the best, its a nice clean background and is a beautiful contrast with the pink. Here are some of the photographs I took…..(click here for full album)

I also got the idea today to take some silhouettes, and experimented a little bit with the idea, I tried using the tree’s and the sky as the background, when I loaded them onto my computer I found that silhouettes are actually tricky to get them to work properly and its better for them to be simplistic.

The next thing I experimented with today was light, I put a real slow shutter speed on and just did all sorts of things from blurring the background totally till it just looks like a pattern to taking some shots of someone jumping into the photo and looking rather ghostly. The idea I have is using things that are usually considered bad in photography and turning into something artistic.

I also found rainbow lorikeets in the gardens at about 4pm and set out trying to capture them, it was a little tricky because I was underneath them and they where hard to find at times, blending in with the tree.

And here are some other photos I took, just capturing the general beauty of the park…

Wow what a day, I went totally crazy with photographing things and am pretty happy with the results, sure there is lots to learn and improve but I’m happy with where I’m at and will always be seeking to improve.

Urban pictures

These are some pictures of buildings I’ve taken while going around the city, and also other random man made objects. I don’t have a favourite thing to take a picture of but I thought why not capture the area I live in, so these are photos of brisbane… enjoy

Nature Photos

I’ve made an album called “Nature” and am putting in it basically all my nature shots, If I get heaps I could probably further categorize it but for the moment “Nature” covers it. I got a really nice one of a bird, its tricky getting animals cause they just don’t stop and pose for me!!!! have to be one the ball to get a good one.

Christmas In july

Just last week on 25 July I went up with my parents to celebrate Christmas in July (I have no idea why they do this). Here are some of the photos I took, they are not that great but just to show the event.
